The updates to the Amsterdam Database of New Testament Conjectural Emendation are numbered quarterly. This page records the most important aspects for each instalment. In each update conjecture records are added, as well as history records, and citations. Remarks are corrected, expanded, or added. IDs of conjectures, history records, and other elements remain unchanged (with some very few exceptions explicitly pointed out in these release notes).
There is also a page with general information on the Amsterdam Database.
36–38. 14 January 2026 (2025-3, 2025-4, and 2026-1)
As before, due to personal circumstances, I have not been able to spend enough time on the database to warrant the usual quarterly instalments.
General
For this instalment, I added many citations (e.g. by Naber), and I also discovered a large number of conjectures on John’s Gospel by O’Neill, who in a 1996 article identified a “sea of secondary scribal glosses referring to the Jews” (p. 71). In a similar vein, a 1997 article detects many “glossing references to the Jews” in the text of Acts (p. 182); e.g. at Acts 14:2); I hope to elaborate more of these instances in a next installment.
Compared to the previous release (33–35; 2024–4 to 2025-2) 63 conjecture records have been added (cj17062 to cj17124), together with 132 history records (s33408 to s33539). In the source records 305 citations have been included as well, as well as some translations. The total number of true conjectures is now 6.685 (out of 7.125 conjecture records); the total number of history records is 23.539, of which 9.449 contain a citation.

Other noteworthy additions and corrections
Pearce’s conjecture at Gal 4:25–26 had been recorded twice, namely as cj12664 and as cj14734. The former number has now been given to a freshly found conjecture by O’Neill (see above).Acknowledgements
