Split a/b -- R1
The longer text is attested by the majority, but the pronoun, as one out of five instances in four syntagmata, may have been omitted here for stylistic reasons.[1]
[1] Metzger (315), Barrett (430), and Pervo (225) see a possible assimilation to Is 53:8 LXX in b. Ziegler’s apparatus, however, lists numerous witnesses for the presence of αὐτοῦ. Pervo’s remark that the addition of αὐτοῦ might be christologically motivated would need substantiation.
