Split a/b -- R1

Luke has a preference for τ περί in connection with preaching and annunciation, as well as in other contexts. In the NT, 12 out of 18 occurrences are in Lk/Acts, and 10 of those are in Acts alone.[1] Variant a is the only instance of εαγγελίζεσθαι περί in the NT, otherwise constructions with a direct object prevail. Therefore, the more Lukan expression in the majority readings stands against the better attested, less common one. The incoherencies in the a attestation, however, show how easily the insignificant article could be dropped.

[1]      The relevant instances are Lk 24:19.27; Acts 1:3; 13:29; 18:25; 19:8 (see the commentary on this passage below •••); 23:11, 15; 24:10, 22; 28:15, 31; Eph 6:22; Phil 1:27; 2:19, 20, 23; and Col 4:8.
