RE: Missing witness in apparatus (e.g., Mark 9:34/14-20)

Ever since a change to display fully non-extant witnesses at the top, the online ECM has been dropping witnesses for various variants.

This makes the online ECM unreliable.

Take Mark 9:34/14-20 as an example, where in the following chart, variant a/b/c should read S:P, a/b/f should be CPA:L, a/c/d should be 055, and — should be P45 067 0131 0233 33 427 590 732 2106 L60 L547 L844 L2211:

Hi Stephen,

Yes, this is my fault.  The summary function incorrectly summarizes a witness in the fully lac section if it doesn't appear in any 'normal' reading, e.g., a, b, c, etc.  This is problem especially for versional data.  It's on the top of my to-do list to fix.

For now, you can select the little 3 dot menu in the upper-right corner of the apparatus display window, select Style, and then choose Verbose.  This will turn off the fully-lac summary.  Again, our apologies.

Hi Troy. Thanks for this message. The "verbose" style is exactly what I wanted. Wonderful.

Learning something new everyday, I guess.

This should be fixed now if you want to try the "Traditional" style.  The "Verbose" style will also not collapse A to ... and Byz groups for ECM editions with full NTVMR data, e.g., Matthew and later fascicles.  These digital editions have much more data because they were edited entirely in the VMR and we have all the data from that process.

You may also be interested in the lesser known [SHIFT]+hover tools.  If you hold the [SHIFT] key down and hover your mouse around the witnesses in the edition, you should get a few help tools near the witness and across the top of the apparatus display window.

Your feedback is always so appreciated.  We want to hear what regular users of the tools want to see.

Thank you Stephen!

Troy
